The Lagos State Government has urged taxi drivers and cab operators in the state to make use of modern gadgets that would make their jobs meet up with current trends.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
She was quoted to have said this during a two-day tour guide training for taxi drivers and community-based tourism officers at Alausa, Ikeja.
Akinbile-Yussuf, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Adenike Adedoyin-Ajayi, said the training was organised to equip participants with needed information when interacting with tourists.
She said, “You should deploy the use of smartphones, Google maps and other gadgets that will make your job meet up with the realities of today; move with trend and make yourself more relevant by leveraging on your years of experience as members of an organised association.
“Tourists and visitors to the state are customers and should be treated as such by car operators and tourism officers who usually have a close relationship with visitors to the state. Taxi drivers should be customer-centric and driven by the desire to deliver delightful service to customers at every point of contact.”
